Nini Tuong Entertainment
I am Vietnam-born from Madison, Wisconsin currently studying Fashion and Business in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My freshman year last year, I served as VSA-Milwaukee’s secretary and this upcoming sophomore year, I will continue on as VSA-Milwaukee’s Vice President. I also served on staff for the 14th Annual Via-1 Conference for the Entertainment Committee. As you can tell from my major, I have a deep love for fashion; I also have great passion in art and music because I can express myself in an indirect way that shows a part of who I am.
What Via-1 means to me…
I came on staff as the only freshman and I came on staff knowing nothing about the conference at all. After experiencing VIA-1 and experiencing it as a staff member, it has changed my whole perspective on how I view my culture, my Vietnamese community, and how I view VSA. What meant so much to me was the passion and dedication everyone within the VIA-1 family had to for the community and the goal to build new strong leaders within the Vietnamese community to help it grow. Through VIA-1, I’ve such amazing, accepting, welcoming, and talented individuals that I’ve became friends with that I could have never met anywhere else.

Name/Year/ Position. Is this your first-time being a VIA-1 director and/or attending the conference?
Nini Tuong, Sophomore, Entertainment Director. This is my first time being a director, I was on staff for the same committee last year! I actually have never been an attendee of the conference.
Why did you choose to take part in the planning process? Why this committee versus the other committees?
I chose to take part in the conference planning process because it feels great to be a part of such an inspirational event and make new ever-lasting connections along the way.
I chose Entertainment committee because I’ve always been a creative person that loves doing the planning work behind events. I would like the attendees to experience a fresh and exciting culture show as well as banquet that’s going to be memorable for them.
Who inspires you the most?
My mother who is the heart that keeps me alive. She inspires me to want to become a better woman each day.
Most memorable experience or favorite memory of VIA-1 so far?
My favorite VIA-1 memory is probably when banquet ended last year and Entertainment gathered on stage and had a “we did it!” moment because all of our hard work to plan the culture show and banquet had been a success. It was just a wonderful moment of satisfaction and relief.
Director Question: Which committee director would you marry, impeach, and collaborate with and why?
Marry: Dan Hodac because he is musically talented and he can sing me to sleep every day.
Impeach: Dan Hodac because I want my husband to be a stay-at-home dad.
Collaborate: Jon Lo and Media team because both of our committees involve being creative and artistic so we can share ideas and help one another out on our projects.
